Andriy Zayarnyuk

Andriy Zayarnyuk teaches history at the University of Winnipeg. His area of expertise is social and cultural history of modern Ukraine and Eastern Europe. He has an MA from York University (1998) and a PhD from the University of Alberta (2003). He is the author of a monograph on “liberation” projects in mid-nineteenth-century rural Galicia (2007), as well as Framing the Ukrainian Peasantry in Habsburg Galicia, 1846–1914 (2013) and Lviv’s Uncertain Destination: A City and Its Train Terminal from Franz Joseph I to Brezhnev (2020), and co-author of The Intellectual Foundations of Modern Ukraine: The Nineteenth Century (2022).
