Yevhen Yashchuk
Paper title: "Doing trans-imperial history in Ukrainian contexts: The case of provincial imperial centres in the late nineteenth century"
Yevhen Yashchuk is a DPhil candidate in global and imperial history at the University of Oxford, with an Ertegun Graduate Scholarship in the Humanities. He is interested in imperial, media, and intellectual history of East-Central Europe in the nineteenth century, as well as topics in contemporary memory politics. Yevhen is currently finishing his dissertation on the trans-imperial history of the Great Eastern Crisis, focusing on everyday life in the provincial imperial cities of Kyiv and Lviv in 1875–78. Since April 2022, he has been a student coordinator and mentor at the CEU Invisible University for Ukraine. He is also a founding member of the Oxford Ukraine Hub and a co-editor of the "Peripheral Histories" and "Visible Ukraine" projects.
