Vic Satzewich

Vic Satzewich is a professor of sociology at McMaster University and past president of the Canadian Sociological Association. His books include The Ukrainian Diaspora (1991), ‘Race’ and Ethnicity in Canada: A Critical Introduction, 5th edn (2023), and Racism and the Incorporation of Foreign Labour: Farm Labour Migration to Canada Since 1945 (2026 [1991]). In 2006 he was honoured with an Outstanding Contribution Award by the Canadian Sociological Association, and in 2024 a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Canadian Ethnic Studies Association. In 2016, his book Points of Entry: How Canada’s Visa Officers Decide Who Gets In (2015) won the Canadian Sociological Association’s John Porter Tradition of Excellence Book. He also received the 2020 Metropolis Canada Researcher Award.
