Naomi McIlwraith

Naomi McIlwraith is a peace educator, poet, and essayist who works for the City of Edmonton as the Indigenous Framework Operations Coordinator. She works to teach City Staff about Indigenous peoples, truth, and reconciliation. A Métis writer with a Cree, Anishinaabe, Scottish, English, and French inheritance, Naomi gratefully uses her education to bring people together and to build a more harmonious world. She lives in amiskwacî-wâskahikan, Plains Cree for Beaver Hills House, also known as Edmonton, Alberta. Naomi feels a deep kinship with kisiskâciwani-sîpiy—which means “swiftly flowing river.” The Earth and all her inhabitants, human and more-than-human, are Naomi’s relatives.
