Iaroslav Kovalchuk

Iaroslav Kovalchuk is a lecturer in history at Columbia University (2026/27) and an editorial board member of the Ukrainian journal of social criticism Spil'ne. He earned his MA in political science from the National University Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (2016) and his MA in nationalism studies from Central European University (2017). He defended his dissertation, "Sovietizations of Western Ukraine: Diverse paths of the Transcarpathian and Lviv Communist Party branches, 1944–50," in 2025 at the University of Alberta.
