Alina Dochu

Alina Dochu is an indigenous Crimean Tatar scholar affiliated with McMaster University (Hamilton, ON) and the Potebnia Institute of Linguistics under the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, with a PhD in linguistics from the Kyiv National University (2013). Dochu has extensive research experience in Crimean Tatar Indigenous language revitalization, language policy, sociolinguistics, and Crimean Tatar diaspora studies. At McMaster she is focusing on the role of the Crimean Tatar diaspora in transnational and political activism. She also contributed to a project funded by a SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, aimed at establishing a transnational network for Indigenous language revitalization. She is an active member of the Canadian Association of Crimean Tatars.
